How dry skin looks like

If you look at dry skin, you find that it has really small pores and looks dull, flaky and scratchy. It’s not attractive having dry skin as wrinkles and fine lines are especially noticeable on dry skin than any other skin type. In fact, people like you will definitely complain of some sort of dragging or pulling sensation in their dry skin.

There are various causes for dry skin which however grow more common as your body ages. Some dry skin issues include hot baths, sunshine, low humidity and soaps, even the gentle versions. Moreover, if your parents had dry skin, you are more than likely to develop dry skin too.

Protect and nourish dry skin

The most important thing you need to do to treat dry skin is to keep it protected and nourished at all times. Make it a point to avoid heat wherever possible, which is why you should forget about using hot showers, saunas or baths. If possible, use a moisturizing liquid, and not soap while bathing.

Do not neglect if you suddenly start getting dry skin, with other symptoms like excessive tiredness or thirst. It is important that you discuss this with your doctor as it can be an indicator of some severe health problem.

Of course, smoking is bad for not only your lungs, but also for your skin, especially if you already have dry skin. This is because smoking narrows arteries which in turn reduce the amount of oxygen and nutrients that the blood carries to your organs. As your skin is your body’s largest organ, you need to quit smoking if you want beautiful skin.

Change your diet

Look for dry skin products containing petrolatum, lanolin, vegetable oils, glycerin, etc as they all help your skin get hydrated from the outside in. Drink lots of water and green teas, which help moisturize your skin.

Also take a look, at your diet as starvation causes your skin to shrivel, become dry and susceptible to wrinkles. Dry skin is also a sign of vitamin B deficiency, which can be fixed through your diet and supplements. Some good vitamin B sources are yeast, wholegrain and sunflower seeds.
