Toothpaste too offers acne relief

After learning that lemon juice, baking soda and oatmeal can help treat your acne problem, you will be pretty surprised to learn that even your everyday toothpaste can do more than clean your teeth!

Toothpaste

Toothpaste can be used for clearing up your acne problem. All you need to do is apply a small amount of white toothpaste to the affected area before sleeping. Toothpaste helps at reducing the swelling of acne, and dries it out. So within a day or two, you will experience a significant improvement in your acne problem.

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil also works as a natural acne treatment as it works as an antiseptic which can disinfect the pores. It also kills acne causing bacteria. All you need to do is apply a drop of tree tea oil to the affected regions thrice a day.  In case the strong tree tea oil causes irritation, redness and over drying, you can use a 5% solution instead.

Orange

Just like lemon juice, the acidic property and high vitamin C content of orange makes it a perfect home remedy for acne. While you can use both orange juice and the peel to treat acne, orange peel is a much better option.

Just place the orange peel in the sun to dry out and then grind the dried peel into powder. Mix it with water to form a paste and apply this paste to the affected areas for 10 – 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties which help treat acne in a few days’ time. It also proves helpful at healing acne scars. You can either use the aloe Vera gel found in the market, or if you have aloe Vera at home, cut a leaf off and remove its pure gel by squeezing it out from the middle. Then apply the gel to the affected area twice a day.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek is great for treating acne because of its antioxidant, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Just mix some fresh fenugreek leaves with water to form a smooth paste and apply it to the affected area. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes and wash off using warm water. Repeat for 3-4 days to help heal acne.

An alternative option is to grind a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds into a fine powder and adding some warm water to it to make a paste. This paste has to be applied and left on the affected area for 20 minutes or overnight and rinsed off. Repeat twice or thrice a week.

For best effects, it’s better to follow a healthy lifestyle while using these acne home remedies. However if there are no changes to your acne problem after trying out these home remedies, do consult a doctor.
