6 home care recipes for dry skin- part 1

Dry skin is a common, but uncomfortable problem many people suffer from. It gives a dehydrated and dull look to the skin, feels rough and looks unattractive. Moreover, severe cases of dryness can lead to itching and formation of cracks and fine lines on the skin.

While applications of dry skin care products do help treat the condition, there are some homemade beauty masks which people with dry skin should and can use. Moreover, it is not enough to just treat dry skin.

Try to analyze the reason or trigger to this problem because it can be caused by various triggers like certain medicines, malnutrition and conditions like hormonal imbalance, kidney failure, diabetes and thyroid disorders. Even age, climate and environmental factors affect the skin.

Here are some homemade masks you can make at home, and try to treat your dry skin condition.

  1. Try making a mask of a quarter cup honey and half an avocado and applying to your face and neck. Rinse off after 10-15 minutes for moisturized skin.
  2. Make another mask of half an avocado, a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil, half banana and two tablespoons yogurt. Leave the mask on the face and neck for about an hour and wash away using lukewarm water.
  3. Make a milk mask by blending a tablespoon of honey which is slightly heated to smoothen it, two drops of essential oil and a teaspoon each of milk powder and aloe Vera gel. Leave the mixture on your face for about 15 minutes and use cold water to wash it off.
  4. For soft and smooth skin, whip an egg yolk, and mix a teaspoon each of honey, vitamin E oil and honey to it. Then apply the mask on your face and neck to rinse off after 15 to 30 minutes.
  5. Prepare a mixture of half a cup of raw milk and 2 tablespoons ground oatmeal and cook till it becomes thick. Add a little honey to the mixture and apply as a face mask for about half an hour when it cools. Wash off with lukewarm water for soft and supple skin. If required, add some mashed strawberries and yogurt to the recipe.
  6. A homemade sauna performed once a week also helps dry skin. Boil two to four teaspoons of fresh or dried herbs like chamomile, peppermint and lavender to 2 quarts of water. Use the steam as a facial sauna for about 15 minutes and then apply a moisturizer.
