Oatmeal is not only healthy for the body, but for skin too!

Oatmeal is great for health and beauty reasons as it is rich in antioxidants and minerals like potassium, magnesium, calcium and phosphorus. It is a great natural skin cleanser, especially great for sensitive skin.

In fact, it is very commonly used as a mild soap too and can help give relief from itching and minor irritation. As ground oatmeal has an abrasive quality, it is also perfect for skin exfoliation.

Not only can it be used on your body, it can also be used on the face. Moreover, oatmeal works as a great remedy for curing rosacea, skin rashes and eczema. Read on to learn more about using oatmeal to bring out the radiance in your skin.

  • Make a paste by adding sufficient hot water or milk to instant oatmeal and apply as a face pack. Rinse off after 10-15 minutes using lukewarm water. If required, you can also add aloe Vera gel to the paste.
  • Make another mixture by soaking instant oatmeal in plain yogurt and then applying to your hair and face for effective cleansing. A teaspoon of honey added to the mixture gives better results. Moreover, yogurt is great for making skin glow, softening your hair and for fighting dandruff.
  • Add a cup of milk, a tablespoon of organic honey and two cups of colloidal oatmeal to your warm bath water. Soak in this bath for about 15 to 20 minutes to enjoy a relaxing oatmeal bath and then take a cold shower.
  • For those with dry skin, make a homemade oatmeal face mask by mixing a little warm milk and a cup of ground oatmeal with a ripe, mashed banana to replenish your skin moisture. Then apply the mixture to your face and neck and leave it on for 15 minutes and wash off. Follow by applying a toner and moisturizer.
  • For an oatmeal facial scrub which helps remove dirt and dead skin cells, add two teaspoons of sugar, five drops of rose essential oil and half mashed avocado in two tablespoons of instant oatmeal. Use the scrub for both your face and body.
  • Those with oily skin can use oatmeal by blending a cup of instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of yogurt and a small cucumber piece. This paste also helps heal sunburn.
